Duke Nukem heading to Live! Arcade?

Recent rumblings within the industry point to a possible conversion of the PC classic Duke Nukem for Xbox 360’s Live! Arcade.

Originally released way back in January 1996 to rapturous reviews, the Duke became a favourite amongst PC gamers due to it’s humorous take on the FPS genre. Taking place in LA, the story went that Aliens had landed on planet Earth where humans suddenly found themselves at the top of the endangered species list.

A conversion certainly seems possible, given the recent appearance of Doom on the 360 and along with confirmation that the next in the series will be appearing on PC later this year, with no doubt a 360 (and possibly PS3) version almost a certainty. A quick look on various ’software’ sites seems to suggest Duke Nukem could be squeezed easily into Microsoft’s 250mb Live! Arcade size limit, with Zipped versions of the title coming in at between 100-150mb.

Duke Nukem is certainly a cult classic, and if the rumour proves to be true the title could be considered one of Live! Arcades biggest releases of 2007.

Awesome. I wish they’d hurry up and finish Duke Nukem Forever, but that’ll never happen I severely doubt….

I hope this comes true! I can remember all the serial port deathmatches I played on Duke Nukem, frantic and amusing, with pipe bombs and jetpack battles applenty! Will keep my fingers crossed :)
