Play GTA IV first on 360?
News is dripping through today that the first gamers to play the next in the GTA series will in fact be 360 owners.
The first thing that came to mind when I heard this was “ah, it’ll be a demo on Live! surely?”.
Well perhaps not. Apparently, Microsoft have for the last few months been wagging a big brown envelope in the faces of Rockstar games with the hope of gaining some sort of platform exclusivity from them.
Previously, GTA IV was announced as a multi-platform title and due to be released across both the 360 and PS3 on the same day in Autumn ‘07.
The rumour is that we may see GTA IV officially released in October for Xbox 360, with a PS3 release coming up the rear towards the end of November.
Official comment is obviously not forthcoming, but we should perhaps expect to hear something on this from GDC 2007.
I just don’t get the whole GTA thing to be honest, though I’m sure if confirmed this news will please many a 360 gamer.
