Satchell on BC : “…I don’t know if it’s important anymore”

Microsoft’s Chris Satchell has revealed that the backwards compatibility team will be scaled back shortly, with less emphasis being put on producing updates for the 360.

During a chat over breakfast, Satchell said “At some point we’re going to focus less on it..” [snip] “When you get to the end of this year there will be a reduced focus on backwards compatibility. There are so many 360 games out there. I don’t know if it’s important anymore.”

It’s certainly true that there are a large number of games now available in native 360 format. But does this really mean that work on producing BC updates should be stopped? I guess with most of the popular Xbox titles now running on the 360, (well apart from some glaring omissions such as Panzer Dragoon & Psychonauts* !) there really can’t be much more work to do.

How do you feel about this news, betrayed? What titles would you like to see getting the BC treatment before the scheme draws to a close?
