Next Xbox in development - But it’ll be a long wait!
…or is that next-next-gen?
Anyway - The godfather of all things Xbox (and SEGA hero), Peter Moore has announced that work has already begun on developing the next Xbox console. Though don’t expect to hear anything concrete too soon, as his estimates put the release date slap bang in the middle of 2011. This would put the 360’s life-span at something like 6-7 years which is way more than the original console managed to achieve.
The Xbox development team are currently studying what types of processors and components will be on the market at that time, and attempting to gauge how performance increases are going to pan out. Given the alleged huge increases in development budgets vs console performance - it’ll be interesting to see how much it’s going to cost to put something together that will actually use the technology to the fullest.
I’d be surprised if we don’t see the next console a couple of years ahead of that though, possibly making a debut at trade shows during late 2008, early 2009.
What would you like to see in the next Xbox? Brainwave control? Turn your living room into a Holodeck Star Trek stylee? Or perhaps just make you a nice cup of coffee in the morning? - Have your say in the comments section. You never know, Peter might be reading

While playing at home with friends, Special glasses are to be worn for each individual player so that each person will see their character in the main tv screen, rather than viewing the tv monitor split in 2 or more parts. If players get lost, a special button called “Re-Group” will place all of the players in one particular place.
Navigation screens are very useful too.

I would love to see some kind of new form of vibration. Imagine strapping something like a special form of knee pads and elbow pads and maybe one for your chest and back. Then say if you get shot in the chest in a game you will feel vibrations going through your chest. You should be able to change the intensity of the vibration. Maybe there could be little ones for your face so if you get punched in a boxing match you can actually feel it.

a floating xbox?multiple disc trays?a virtual online simulation kinda like that of the ps3’s but along with the mutliple disc trays you could have little swirly teleports on the floor of your virtual living room that take you right into a game and you could just jump in and it stays open all the time even when you’re in it and other people are in your vitrual house so that they can then join you if they have the same game in one of their disc trays.also when you save your game it comes up in a tv in your virtual house and when you want to play on it again you just walk up to it and start playing again no loading time. For split screens you should be abple to split them between two tvs?perhaps a microsoft handhed?multiple people in one private chat channel.cross platfoms,ps3 vs xbox EY,EY?
