First Tracks for Xbox 360 Guitar Hero III Announced

Are you still playing Guitar Hero II on your 360? I certainly am - and it’s been one of the most worthwhile purchases I’ve made since the 360 was released as far as I’m concerned.

There’s still plenty time for trying to get 5 star performances for every track, in every difficulty - Guitar Hero III isn’t expected to land on our shores until late November this year. Despite this though, Activision have today announced the first group of tracks for the next in the series.

The change of publisher seems to have had an effect on the performances too, with ‘real’ artists tunes appearing this time round. Some tracks are still in the ‘as made famous by..’ camp though.

Take a look at this list, and let us know what tracks you would like to see in GH3. I’m hoping for at least one Meatloaf track, and perhaps a bit of Jeff Buckley or Nick Drake this time.

  • Rock And Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss)
  • School’s Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
  • Slow Ride (as made famous by Fog Hat
  • Cult of Personality (by Living Colour)
  • Barracuda (as made famous by Heart)
  • Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones)
  • Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins)
  • Sabotage (by Beastie Boys)
  • The Metal (by Tenacious D)
  • My Name is Jonas (by Weezer)
  • Knights of Cydonia (by Muse)

In other news on Guitar Hero III, it’s been announced that the 360 version will indeed come with a Wireless Guitar (a major oversight for 360’s GH2) as well as featuring removable faceplates (why!?!?). The new peripheral will be based on the ‘Gibson Les Paul’ as favoured by rock bands the world over and will have a slightly reworked button layout.

Expect to be fleeced for another £70 on release - expensive but worth it.
