EA : Xbox 360 is our priority

Uber publisher Electronic Arts have gone on record this morning to confirm that development on Xbox 360 projects takes priority as multi-platform titles near completion.
Citing the larger Xbox 360 user base, an EA representative went on to say that once titles get closer to release dates - EA re-jigs it’s workforce to concentrate on getting the 360 version ‘out the door’ first.
This is a fairly common sense approach, and one that is based totally on market share and how easily you can sell a title to the masses. This does of course mean, that EA are showing not loyalty to the 360 platform but a need to maintain profitability. If PS3 sales ever overtake that of the 360, then we will see publishers such as EA reverse this trend to concentrate on PS3 titles.
Now all they need to do is make some great games….

This makes me sick. First Rockstar now EA. Is this what’s to expected in the game world once Microsoft got into the game? Pay offs and FUD fro a console that absolutely sucks? Curse you EA. Getting into bed with MS has it’s benefits, like sleeping with the devil. Too bad EA is so off the mark they haven’t noticed the Wii, which has the largest install base. How long can EA pull this shit on Sony? No more EA titles for me.

While I think it’s fair to say EA was slow to adopt the Wii, I think it’s hardly fair to say that they haven’t noticed it. I’d say that EA has actually done a pretty good job realizing this, and in the future I’m sure you’ll start to see some good things from EA on the Wii. I’d also say that the types of games that work well on the Wii don’t work well on the PS3/Xbox 360, and vice versa. It’s not really fair to compare apples to oranges.
That being said, when it comes to XBox 360 vs. PS3, it would be pretty foolish of them not to favor development on the system that has more widespread acceptance. That would be like them spending boat loads of money to create amazing gaming experiences for Mac users. Sure there’s a market (and in fact, they’re starting to tap it), but that’s definitely not their bread and butter (and IMHO will probably never be).
Bottom line, EA is out to make money like any other business, and they won’t be able to do that by catering to the minority. This isn’t that much of a surprise.

Lol hey oldest gamer…where do you want to get with that crap comment? nobody gives a dam in that kinda point of view…People here just want to play games and enjoy it as they are. It´s just that.
I have pity on you. You won´t play great games because of your fanboyism. What a diet eh? hehehe

Granted, EA does output a higher percentage of crap than other publishers - but there are some real gems in there too, and that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Though the announcement has generated a lot of chatter, I personally don’t think it’s a particularly special thing for the Xbox platform. Squenix, Sega or Konami would be another thing altogether though - it’s the Japanese who hold the keys to the kingdom

[…] Being highly dependent on third party developers, Xbox360 and PS3 are two next-gen consoles that are in good books of EA. But, it bothers Nintendo not at all, since major games to the Wii comes from first-party developer (Nintendo) only. […]

This strategy makes perfect sense to me, as to oldest gamers comments on the wii. In order to make a game work on that platform well you need to dedicate some time to the control system, so it makes sense to go for the other two machines first as the port across is easier.
As to the “a console that absolutely sucks?” comment, wihtout entering into a console flamewar, I would ask you to look at what site you are visiting, hate the console that much, then why are you here?

This whole thing is hilarious. People who buy Sony TV, sony PS3, sony stereo. In fact i find sony fanboys generaly hilarious. They have some sad strange belief that they can get away with not researching the product they buy and just buy a brand. ‘This makes me sick, first Rockstar now EA’ dude you sound like Hitler at the end of Downfall listing all of his ‘traitors’. Lighten up and just do your homework carefully and read the smallprint. Understand what you are buying and which console is more likely to have the better games. Wait a year into a next gen war before taking the plunge. Ive got a 360 and am getting a Wii as i knew the 360 would become the premier HD platform and the Wii the overall winner.
Sony Playstation is not always going to be the best and people should realise now that the vast majority of people were lied to about the PS3 system specs. It hasnt got eight cores, it actualy has two cores with 4 ‘cell’s’ on each core. To add injury to insult it’s graphics card is about half the power of the 360’s and it only matches the claimed dual Geforce 6800 ultra performance in fillrate alone. The end result has been inferior graphics and longer development times and costs. Hence EA’s falling out with the console and as a PS2 owner I was highly disapointed with Sony’s lackluster approach this time around.
Futhermore Sony TV’s are prone to ghosting as they are inexperienced with LCD’s and invested heavily in the now dead plasma technology. The Death of Blu ray i feel is not to far round the corner along with the reputation of the sony brand. Which is why i own a Samsung TV which i researched thoroughly and personaly tested in store to ensure it was a product to my satisfaction.
STOP THE FANBOYISM. RESEARCH THE PRODUCT. AND IN AN AGE OF COMPETING FORMATS WAIT AN ASSES THE MARKET BEFORE YOU BUY!

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article EA : Xbox 360 is our priority, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
