Xbox 360 Internet Explorer *Updated*

Why not?

My non-gamer evil twin called this morning with a little extra ca$h in hand, asking about console prices, pros/cons that sort of thing. He knew what kind of fanbias he was in for but listened anyways, and managed to piss me off in the process.
Bro doesn’t have a computer, and really has little use for a games console outside of a casual interest. Has a nice wall mounted 720p, but just a crummy DVD and no cable, internet, or dedicated home phone (gets by with just a cell). We spoke about his actual daily needs for a while, and came up with a list of priorities. My priorities run: Games, Internet, Movies - His are the same but backwards (Movies, Internet, Games). After we knew what he needed, we compared consoles(Elite vs 80G) against his priorities, and unfortunately, despite my best efforts, the 360 lost the fight. He liked the Blu-Ray, needs the internet bad, and since someone told him about yellow-dog linux running on there, he went with the PS3 hands down, nothing I could do to change his mind.

Obviously his needs don’t match everyone, but it got me thinking:

Why don’t I have a version of IE running on my 360?
Would YOU use it if it was available?

*Update*

Recent events have led to my brother purchasing an Xbox 360 Elite, Oblivion GOTY edition and The Orange Box. I also have video footage of him killing younglings in the Jedi Temple, and have decided to take him on as my new apprentice. I will keep you posted as things unfold….

I’m not convinced the 360 needs a web browser really - especially not something as unreliable as IE.
I did use the web browser on the Wii for a short time (youtube) but havent touched it again since.

I don’t need the browser, but if you don’t have a PC the playstation made more sense - with Linux and a bluetooth printer he’s all set - I just wish Microsoft had more functionality on their box - especially where they are the Kings of PC software, but then again they may see these options as cutting into their monopoly - Linux certainly achieves that
