Halo Haloween - The Bungie Cord

Bungie frightens me. They know this. For Haloween, they are messing with matchmaking for 27 hours, and they’ve scared up some new games.
The Playlist of the Living Dead should be available from 10/31/07 8am until 11/01/07 11am(GMT). The Ranked multiplayer “playlist” will feature 3 infection gametypes on custom forge maps built by the guys at Bungie. Since we can’t share our own maps without a PC, this should be a nice change of pace for those of us already bored with the standard gametypes/maps.
“Infection is a lot of fun when everyone is into it, but we don’t think it would make a good playlist long term, so it’s going to come and go. ”
“The Living Dead playlist will be the first to use Forge variants in Matchmaking. Lars [Bakken] and Dan [Miller] pulled out all the stops and Forged some masterful variants featuring fortified positions and anti-Zombie booby traps to help get people into the Zombie mind”
Like they mentioned in their Q&A, the new playlist is only a tease, after that its back to the same tired maps. It’s nice to know how easy it is for them to augment matchmaking, but I still don’t understand why they don’t make drastic improvements. I want to choose the gametype and the map, not have it chosen for me.

Well, for those of you fully engrossed in the storyline, or for those still looking for one, the prologue to the prequel “Contact Harvest” written by Joseph Staten, has been released to provide a glimpse at the storyline of the now infamous Sgt Avery Johnson from the games.

I spent some time playing this last night. It was good fun but got boring after four or five games. Hopefully more changes will be made soon.
The one thing that got my back up was the number of people trying to turn the games into achievement matches. I am going to put an article up about this very soon but basically ‘boosting’ is driving me mad and ruining an otherwise great game for me.
