Microsoft set to announce Xbox 360 price cut at GDC?

With the Microsoft key-note due within mere hours - can we also expect to see cheaper 360’s within the same time frame?
That’s become more of a possibility over recent days, but today that rumour has acquired a little more substance. It was widely expected that we’d see a drop in RRP of some sort during the early months of 2008 - keeping in mind there were no announcements pre-festive period and with PS3 gathering momentum, now would seem like the perfect time to strike a blow.
Images of fliers from a Canadian store would seem to suggest something is indeed inbound. From this Friday, Xbox 360 looks set to drop $50 to a RRP of $349.99 (Canadian dollars remember!). Could we see this spread worldwide? It’s certainly plausible what with the introduction of mega cheap 360’s to the Japanese market and the UK awaiting a drop with baited breath.
We know stocks of the Elite consoles have been in very short supply so perhaps only a shaving off the price can be expected there (~£20) but with Premium units abound perhaps we can expect something a little more tempting, perhaps £30/50 if Microsoft are feeling generous.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this one, more when we get it.

I price drop would certainly be nice, but if there is any true to the idea that MS is having supply issues, and/or selling most everything they make, they would be foolish to drop the price. Other than that though, with Sony gaining traction and the Blu-Ray victory, a price drop would probably go over well, if not make them look a bit desperate.
