Journalist shows spine!

The media.
It’s pretty much full of hate on computer games these days, too many Jack Thompson’s, Glenn Beck’s and Dr. James Dobson’s.
So I was very surprised and lifted, when I spotted an article written by Ross McGuinness in the local Metro paper.
In the article Ross points out that “violent video games actually reduce aggression rather than increase it”.
Ross furthers this by stating that Patrick Kierkegaard has studied up to 30 different research results from extensive studies. The conclusion?
‘With millions of sales of violent games, the world should be seeing an epidemic of violence. Instead, violence has declined.
‘Computer games can, of course, lead to violent behaviour under certain conditions – such as triggering aggression in certain people that are already predisposed to violence – but, taken together, the studies suggest only a flimsy evidence.’
It’s interesting that so many people seem to believe the tenuous link from videogames to violent behaviour, and ignore the fact that some people are prone to violence and savagery, regardless of whether they played with care bears or an AR15 assault rifle in adolescence.
I think I speak for all gamers when I say our plaudits go to you, Mr. McGuinness, for pointing out to the media that our hobby is a harmless one. I hope your career path future brings accolades that project you into the top media, to continue to fight our cause.

Totally agree! its about time we got more positive press, who else thinks Jack Thompson is just a goon trying to gain recognition by blaming media for societies issues?
Respect to Ross McGuinness!

@ RocketScience Thank you for pointing out my mistakes, I have corrected them specifically for you.
Granted your point is accurate however I would suggest that your comment could have been more constructive.
That said, I’m not really one to post many articles, as my main function for the site is the web comics. Still.. point taken, I will endeavour to do better.
